The Big Game

The San Francisco 49ers lost the Super Bowl the other day and I am a little sad. Like Bang Bang ‘9er Gang nation, I hoped we’d bring home the rings. But it was not to be. Another of my favorite idols fell.

Yet I was not as sad as maybe I once would have been.

While watching the game unfold, I couldn’t help but let the Spirit in my mind remind me that there is another Big Game unfolding across the world: the game of God vs the ego.

Let me put this competition to rest right from the top: God is. There is no ego, no competition. He is Eternally Victorious. But it sure seems like the ego (the “devil” back in New Testament bible days) is winning this game of life on earth. Yet another tragedy, a so-called “war,” is unfolding in Palestine today. Famine, earthquakes, AI, and satanic symbolism all vie for our attention both in the media and on social media. In short, it’s chaos out there. TikTok and Instagram videos abound with these images. I wonder how the heaven everyone is not terrified out of their minds by now. I sure would be had I not acquired (or been given to be more accurate) a spiritual foundation to protect myself. And that is what this post is really about.

For those with eyes to see, it is not the ego that rules this world. Oh on a superficial level, it sure seems to rule. But look underneath the images of fear, guilt and projection, and you will see a quiet light that shines unabated; a loving light of innocence that is spread across the world. It is reflected in every person on earth, regardless of whether the ego judges that person “good” or “bad”. It is reflected in all living things, a blade of grass, a humming bird, a gentle breeze. The light of Heaven is spread across the earth and people don’t see it. Joyous news abound.

For those willing to learn, Christ (every single person who has ever lived, lives now, or who will ever live–including Jesus of course, all joined as One) has already defeated the ego. The game is over. Eternal Oneness reigns. This is the truth. This is the Good News.
